Larry Schnell is a writer and journalist living near Cooperstown, NY. His first published work, Laura, begins the collection Country People: Stories from Rural New York. In 2017, his novel The Year of the Gator was published, with readings and books signings in New York and Florida.
As a reporter for seven years with the Gainesville Sun and the Florida Times Union, he covered business, politics and higher education in North Florida.He graduated from State University of New York at Oneonta in English literature and from the University of Florida with a master’s in mass communication. He has taught English, journalism and writing for several colleges and universities including the University of Florida.
A lifelong sailor and commercial boat captain, he has sailed in Florida, the East Coast, the Bahamas and Lake Ontario in his sailboat Intrada and written articles on his sailing experiences in boating magazines.
